Course Description
This comprehensive 2 hour lecture explores cutting-edge approaches in the diagnosis and management of complex facial pain disorders through evidence-based case presentations. Participants will examine recent developments through diverse clinical scenarios including: TMJ involvement in systemic autoimmune and connective tissue diseases, TMJ hypermobility disorders, spontaneous occlusal changes, trigeminal neuralgia, cervical referred pain, and the intricate relationship between headaches and TMD. Special emphasis will be placed on recognizing various arthritides affecting the TMJ, differentiating between hypermobility spectrum disorders, and understanding their impact on treatment planning.
The course will also explore the critical relationship between cervical disorders and orofacial pain, demonstrating current diagnostic strategies for identifying cervicogenic jaw pain and evidence-based treatment approaches. The course demonstrates modern diagnostic workflows, including advanced imaging techniques, and current treatment algorithms.

Course Objectives
- Identify clinical manifestations of various systemic autoimmune/connective tissue diseases affecting the TMJ and implement appropriate management strategies
- Identify potential underlying causes of spontaneous bite changes and develop appropriate diagnostic protocols
- Differentiate between facial pain conditions using current diagnostic criteria
- Evaluate the relationship between TMD and headaches
- Differentiate between TMD and cervically-referred orofacial pain

Requirements: Access to a computer that can play sound, is required for participation the Nevada AGD self study program. No special computer knowledge or equipment is required to participate; however, the webinar utilizes Google Drive to access the video link and the post test. Specific instructions will be disseminated in the confirmation page following registration. If any issues arise please email us for assistance at [email protected].

Self-Study Post-Test must be completed and submitted to the NV AGD via email within 30 days of course receipt. Score requirements: 12 of the 15 questions (80% score) must be answered correctly. One additional retest is permitted at no additional charge. Any additional retests will require a $25 administrative fee. Once the course materials are sent to registrants, they have 30 days to complete the program and submit the posttest. To receive certificate prior to the June 30, 2025 NV licensure renewal deadline, all post-tests MUST be submitted on or before 6/23/25 at 5pm PST. *Registration after June 1, 2025, requires completion of course by 6/23/25 and the 30-day window to complete the course is not applicable.
Verification of registration and correct fees is required to receive credit. Registering as a member, when you are not a member will result in additional fees.
