Course Description
This presentation will discuss the current landscape of opioid and other substance abuse related issues as they exist in Nevada today. Additionally, this course will examine the impact of legislation on opioid prescribing in Nevada. Participants will review data, discuss changes in prescribing rates and practices, review PMP laws, data errors and forgeries.
Course Objectives
1. Understand the scope of the opioid epidemic in Nevada
2. Discuss components of Senate Bill (SB) 459; The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act
3. Discuss components of Assembly Bill (AB) 474; Reporting Drug Overdose
4. Discuss components of AB 239; Review and Investigation of controlled substance complaints
5. Impact of legislation on opioid prescribing in Nevada
6. Discuss the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) changes
7. Understand PMP Issues: PMP self-queries, Data errors and forgeries, and Hotline alerts.
8. Discuss e-prescribing requirements.

Requirements: Access to a computer that can play sound, is required for participation the Nevada AGD live webinar. No special computer knowledge or equipment is required to participate; however, the webinar utilizes the Zoom platform. Specific instructions will be disseminated upon registration to assist with course access.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations by the participant within 7 days of the program will result in a fee of 50% of the tuition cost. No shows will be charged the entire regular tuition price. If NV AGD cancels the program, the participant will be reimbursed the full tuition amount.
